Grant Whitaker Racing #79 - National Superstock 600 Championship 2010

Sponsorship Opportunities with Team HWW Racing

Team HWW are currently looking for sponsorship to help aid Grant Whitaker in the highly intense National Superstock 600 Championship for 2010. Due to the lack of funds we have not been able to attend as many round as we hoped to, so we have chose to compete as a ‘Wildcard’ rider at only tracks local to base, as well as keeping focused on next years plans and continuing to look for sponsors along with improving are performance at every round.

Grant has competed in 2 British Championship round. One being Oulton Park (1st – 3rd May) & the other Cadwell Park (21st – 23rd May). Oulton Park was only his 2nd time on the bike for 2010 and going out on track racing again took a while to get used to but he managed to get a good rythmn going and qualify 36th out of 60 riders. Due to an unfortunate incident on the first lap of the race, the race was cancelled and we be re-run at another venue at a later date.

This was later found out to be the all new Silverstone circuit on the 30th July – 1st August of which it was determined that the grid positions from Oulton Park would be used for the Silverstone race. As Silverstone was a brand new circuit to Grant of which nearly every other person in the race had been there atleast once then we were already started on the back foot, but Grant did not dwel on this and got stuck right into it. After the 2 practise sessions he was overall 17th, this showed we had the pace we just needed to get a good start and progress forward. In the race Grant managed to work his way upto 13th position and bag 3 points to add to his championship tally. This was an excellent result for Grant and the team and really shows of things to come.

Cadwell Park (21st – 23rd May)
This was a fantastic weekend for Grant and the team as we really started on the up after finishing 5th in his group after free practise 1. For the 1st qualifiying we changed a couple of things to finish 6th in are group and most importantly improving are time again. Come 2nd qualifying we went a little faster and overall finished 13th out of the 2 groups which come to 54 people trying for 36 positions on the grid, which was fantastic for Grant and the team. The race started off a little hectic as Grant ran slightly onto the grass in the first corner but managed to stay on, as he dropped down to 17th by lap one he had some work to do. Throughout the race Grant continued to put in some good lap times and with a bit of misfortunate luck for other riders and a couple of good passing manuevers he finished a very respectable 10th place, picking up 6 championship points !
A massive Thank-you goes out to Chip @ Ashton Service Centre for helping out for this event and the other planned meeting at Cadwell Park on the August bank holiday weekend 28th – 30th August.

With an encouraging 2009 season we are hoping to continue this throughout the 2010 season but with budget very limited it is proving very difficult to do so.
