(Saturday Morning) FP1 – This session had to be used to run the bike in as we had a new engine in for this round. Grant had to make sure everything was up to temperature and running okay. He did not push in this session but still finished 18th.
(Saturday Afternoon) Q1 – This was the first time Grant could really get to unleash & feel the power of the new motor. The track conditions were wet so full wet tyres were needed. Grant was feeling comfortable out on track and started to put in some fast laps. Towards the end of the session the track was starting to dry up so the times started to come down and on the final lap of the 2.18mile Lincolnshire circuit Grant jumped up to 7th position with his fastest lap of the session. Grant was happy with this but knew it was going to be dry the following day so this result would not stand.
(Sunday) Q2 – This session was dry and Grant knew he would have to improve. Grant felt quite comfortable out on track and started to use the new tyres he had on. Grant was happy with the suspension settings at first, but then as he got faster he was having some slight problems which stopped Grant from improving as he wanted to. Grant finished the session in 12th position. This is where Grant would start from for the race on Bank holiday Monday.
(Monday) Race – Grant got off the line not as good as he would have wanted to and dropped back a position or two. Grant had some work to do but dug deep and passed a couple of riders straight away. Once at half distance Grant found himself in 11th position. Throughout the next couple of laps a fellow rider pulled over with technical issue & then another rider went down, bringing out the red flag. After 9 laps the race was called a result and Grant finished the race in 9th position. More points on the board which Grant was pleased with as the last couple of races haven’t been the best for Grant & the team.
