Background

Grant first started his motorcycling career in 1999, this was doing Moto-x on a Kawasaki KX60 automatic, then the following year he moved onto a Kawasaki KX65 geared bike in the Juniors class which he competed in for 3 years and in 2002 all his hard work and effort from the past couple of years were finally rewarded when he was crowned Y.M.S.A Junior Champion.

Grant then moved onto a Honda CR85 (Small Wheel) of which was a different bike, he adapted well to it & finished 2nd place at the end of the year & the year after.

In 2005 he then used the same bike from the previous year but used bigger wheels to compete in the Inter 100 championship which he finished 4th. This was Grant’s final year of Moto-x.

Also within the same year he competed in his first full season doing road racing onboard a Aprilia RS125 Superteen bike which he gained experience and the following year he finished 11th.

In 2007 he was determined to give it his all and really show his potential but due to alot of mechanical problems, could only manage joint 5th but 1 point off 4th position which was encouraging.

2008 was a very different year because he decided to take a new venture and go upto the ‘big bikes’ and opted for 2 brand new 2008 model Yamaha 600’s, which he again competed at the MRO rounds and did very well. During this time he had to adapt to a new bike with almost 4 times more powerful than the Aprilia RS125. At the end of the year he finished 2nd in the juniors and 3rd in the main stocksport 600 championship which Grant and the team were very pleased with and straight away could not wait for the following year!

2009 proved to be a very encouraging and yet a steep learning curve where we decided to enter the National Superstock 600 Championship which features the best riders in the UK all in one class. With results at the beginning of the year not so good, Grant & the team stuck together and continued to keep their heads high. He began to gain momentum towards the mid season point by picking up 2 points at Knockhill which is a circuit he hadn’t visitied since 2005 and along with that I collected the ‘rider of the day’ award. He then continued this momentum to the end of the season by picking up a point in what was a very difficult and tricky last round at Oulton Park, Cheshire were he collected another one to cap off the season.

2010 – Grant competed in only 5 rounds of 12 and scored 10 points towards the championship. He finished the season in 27th position and gained a massive amount of experience throughout the year. We are hoping this will put him in good stead for the 2011 season.
