Team HWW Racing was feeling very confident having tested previously at the circuit.
The free practise session went very well for Grant, he familiarised himself with the circuit again. He used the same set of tyres he tested with previously, he was happy with his times and finished the session in 6th position.
Qualifying was yet again good as Grant managed to qualify up to his normal standards as well as improve his lap time whilst riding by himself. Both the qualifying session where dry and this allowed Grant a try a few suspension modifications to help improve his feeling with the bike. His times in both sessions where personal bests and put him 9th on row 3. This would give Grant a good run and line to the first corner for the race.
The race was here and a long 12 lapper was about to commence. Grant got a great start and headed into the first corner in about 7th position, on the run out of the first corner Grant immediately made up a spot and jumped into 6th position. Grant in the next few corners lost a couple of positions and rounded out the first lap in 8th position. He stayed strong and held this position until half race distance. He was keeping an eye on the riders just ahead as they looked to be opening up a small gap so Grant pushed his way through to 7th position. By this stage there was only the 6th place rider in front of Grant as the others had broken away. Grant was concentrating on trying to find a place to make a move for 6th position in the final few laps, but unfortunately this never materialised and Grant finished the race in yet again 7th position. This was overall a steady result for Grant but he was a little miffed that he couldn’t sneak past and take 6th position.
Overall Grant had a good weekend as he was consistently in the top 10 all weekend and felt happy and comfortable both on and with his HWW Yamaha R6.
